Graduate Scholarships 

Our graduate students come from all over the globe to study at Magdalen due to Oxford University’s reputation as a global research powerhouse, and Magdalen attracts some of the brightest minds in the world. They have a considerable impact on the intellectual life of Magdalen, as well as the wider academic community. However, each year a large number of the best candidates selected by the College have to decline their offer of a place at Magdalen due to a lack of financial means.

Changes to the funding framework in the UK in recent years have created significant funding cuts. Unlike for undergraduates, there is no student loan facility available to students at postgraduate level. Without independent means, for many of our applicants a scholarship is critical to being able to accept the place at all.

How your support could make a difference

Last year, Magdalen announced a transformational increase in the number of graduate scholarships, with a rise in the next three years to around 60 scholarships, at an annual cost to the College of approx. £1 million. However, to reach our ultimate goal of funding all graduate places at Magdalen, we will need the support of alumni and friends.

A gift to Graduate Scholarships will help us provide funding for graduate students to ensure that the valuable research contributions of talented candidates are not lost to other institutions or abandoned altogether.
