Marshall Scholarships have enabled young Americans to study for a degree in the UK since 1953. Named after US Secretary of State George C Marshall and his Marshall Plan to aid European recovery after the Second World War, the Marshall Scholarship programme strengthens the enduring relationship between Britain and the US. Marshall Scholars study for a range of degrees, and their time as Scholars enhances their intellectual and personal growth while creating a meaningful lifelong affinity with Britain.
Magdalen has a long history of hosting Marshall Scholars and has recently made a commitment to take and fund the tuition fees of at least one new Marshall Scholar every year. The tuition fees of each scholar cost approximately $50,000 (£30,000) a year and are typically for a duration of two years, requiring $100,000 (£60,000) a year to fund two scholars at any one time. We are seeking the support of our community to help us achieve this annual commitment.
Your contribution will ensure that the Marshall Scholarships will continue to flourish at Magdalen.
