The Treitel Scholarship Fund was set up following a generous bequest from Professor Sir Guenter Treitel and his wife, Phyllis Treitel. Sir Guenter read for the BA in Jurisprudence and the BCL at Magdalen, and was later a Fellow and Tutor in Law (1954–1979) at the College, before taking up the Vinerian Professorship of English Law at All Souls.
The Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) at Magdalen is a one year taught graduate course and is one of the most renowned Law courses in the world. With fees of £32,880 for UK students and £49,660 for international students, plus living costs of £20,000, the cost of study is a significant barrier for many talented candidates.
Magdalen is therefore proud to be launching the Sir Guenter Treitel Scholarship Fund, which will create three new fully funded BCL scholarships every year. This Fund provides support for graduate Law BCL students with fees and living costs, enabling the very best and brightest to study here. As part of Magdalen’s long-term strategy to increase the number of graduate scholarships, we are delighted to match fund every donation made.
Your contribution will help to fund graduate law students on an annual basis, and support the great legal minds of the future.
